Common Questions

What is bone graft made of?

There are a variety of sources of bone grafting materials each with their own pros and cons. Common options include human cadaver bone, bovine, porcine or synthetic (lab-made) bone. Please feel free to ask us what is best for your case, and if you have any concerns.

Is bone grafting necessary for implants?

Only if there's insufficient bone mass to support an implant.

What is Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)?

PRF is a product made in office by drawing your blood. We then spin it in a centrifuge, which separates out the platelet rich portion. This part of the blood contains many helpful growth and healing factors that will enhance recovery and healing of the area. This service is entirely optional and is provided at no additional cost to you.

How long does it take to heal?

The initial healing of the gums takes about 2-4 weeks. The healing and maturing of the bone graft underneath takes between 3 to 6 months.
